Kids Crafts Recipe: Homemade colored Sand

This recipe is traditional, we hope you enjoy it and save money making colored sand yourself.

MATERIALS
  • * Color Chart:
  • Red – 10 drops
  • Yellow – 10 drops
  • Green – 10 drops
  • Blue – 10 drops
  • Purple- 12 Red + 8 Blue – Ratio 2
  • Orange – 12 Yellow – 4 Red – Ratio 1
  • Teal – 6 Blue + 4 Green – Ratio 2
  • Mint Green – 6 Green + 2 Yellow – Ratio 1
  • Dusty Rose – 6 red + 2 Blue – Ratio 1

STEP(S):
  • Instructions for 1 cup of sand:
  • Pour 1 cup of sand unto the bowl
  • Pour 1/4 cup of water unto the bowl
  • Add 6 (light color) to 10 (darker color) drops of food coloring to the bowl
  • Using the spoon mix and let it sit until it has reached the desired color
  • Once the sand has reached the desired color, use the strainer to remove the extra water.
  • Let the sand air dry on a newspaper or paper towel
